My daughter is following a 2-year course. Costs €8500,= after the first year she wants to quit the course. She finds it downright bad and the course meets or exceeds expectations. There are many abuses. The owner of the course says that she still has to pay the costs of the 2nd year. Is this correct?

Yes, in principle. However, there are ways to limit the damage. The course provider must be able to demonstrate that he actually bears the damage because he was unable to replace someone else. Books and training materials that have been purchased can be returned and reused. Another way is to put the course provider in default, in which a period is granted to resolve the abuses. If this does not happen or does not happen on time, the agreement can be terminated.
