Legal Advice on Dismissal and Pregnancy
Questioner
Dear, My wife is 35 weeks pregnant. She has a permanent contract and is told that her contract will be terminated in 8 months. She does not have to return after her maternity leave. The reason is for economic reasons. Can this be reported during her pregnancy? What are the rules regarding severance pay? She has currently been employed by this employer for 4 years.Lawyer
Being fired due to pregnancy is not allowed, but being fired for another reason during pregnancy (or announcing this during pregnancy) is allowed. It is very important that your wife hires an employment lawyer to properly represent her interests (including in connection with benefit rights, non-competition clause, study costs scheme, severance pay, etc. etc.). You/she can contact one of the employment lawyers here directly for this without obligation.Take the next step
