Divorce assistance and legal aid for parents

Questioner

I have been in a divorce for a year and a half, we are not married and do not have a cohabitation contract. We have two children. We live in a rented house, still together in a house. The situation is getting worse. I have a part-time job, pay all the fixed costs, everything for the children. My partner only pays the rent, nothing else, has double the salary that I have. I am deep in the red because he has not paid anything for years. Is there anything I can do about this. What rights do I have, can he throw me out on the street? I have custody of the children. I also pay the school fees. I receive child benefit. He has acknowledged the children. I am now in a situation where I no longer know how to get out of it.

Lawyer

In your case, I think it would be wise to contact a lawyer who can assist you in settling this case. An attempt can be made to negotiate with your ex-partner and if that does not lead to a result, legal proceedings can be initiated in which, among other things, a request will be made to allocate the tenancy rights of the home to you if you so wish. Furthermore, alimony can be requested for the children, a division of care and upbringing tasks can be established and it can be considered whether further agreements need to be made and/or recorded with regard to the division of joint assets and debts.
