Liability for damage caused by a child: What to do?
Questioner
Good afternoon, my daughter (11 years old) was riding her bike behind me through a narrow street. A car came towards us (was driving slowly). When my daughter passed the car, she hit the car with her steering wheel. It has paint damage. The driver wants to claim the damages from us. Stupidly enough, we are not insured. Is this correct considering that it concerns an 11-year-old and a (gently) moving car?Lawyer
This is correct. If damage is caused by a minor child, you as a parent are liable for it unless you can prove otherwise. Witness statements or other evidence may speak in your favor. For more information or help, you can contact me directly and without obligation.Neem de volgende stap
