Good day, My child was not acknowledged by the progenitor at birth and in the years after, although I asked the progenitor to do so several times. He did not want to be burdened with alimony and obligations. I then tried for two years to keep my child and the progenitor in each other's lives, but the progenitor chose not to keep to agreements and did not contact me for months. In the meantime I had a new boyfriend, and after announcing our marriage and pregnancy we decided to have him acknowledge my child and give him his last name. We also have joint custody. Now the progenitor suddenly wants to acknowledge his child. My child grew up with her acknowledger and has never had a connection with the progenitor. We do not intend to withhold who her biological father is. It is not clear whether the father wants to acknowledge his child for the sake of the child, but seems to act more on emotions about his biological child being raised and acknowledged by someone else. He has maintained all the years that he was not capable of being in my child's life, that it would not be healthy for my child etc. Now our question is to what extent he can revoke the recognition if he goes to court with a lawyer.
