Assistance with address registration and legal questions

Questioner

I had someone register at my address in good faith, after about 2 weeks it was clear to me that this was not the right choice. This person has now left for an unknown destination abroad. However, this person has requested the municipality by means of a registered letter to deregister from my address, and also added a copy of his ID. It is clear to me that this has reached the municipality, because they contacted me by phone that they found it strange that the person had been registered for such a short time and that they would first find out where this person is staying now, and that pending this investigation he will remain registered at my address. My question is, is this allowed? The person has met all the requirements for deregistration, and now I am still registered with this person at my address.

Lawyer

I do not know the details of the case, nor do I know which municipality is involved, but in principle the municipal executive has the authority to initiate an investigation if something seems wrong or strange to them.
