Arranging guardianship after death | Rechtswinkel.nl

Questioner

In a maximum of 4 months I will have a son. I am a single woman and the biological father will not acknowledge the child and will not play a role in the child's life. I was wondering, if I die, who will get custody of the child (if I have not put anything in writing about this). I have a younger sister and a mother who is still alive. Kind regards,

You can appoint a guardian through a will. You do this through a notary who will also charge costs for this. You can also have it recorded in the authority register at the court in your area who you wish to appoint as guardian for your son if you were to die. I believe there are no costs associated with the latter. You would then have to contact the court in your region.
