Assistance with wage garnishment and default judgment | Legal aid centre

Questioner

Moved in 2006 to a house with a TV, internet subscription from the previous residents, never used it, always had something else. Reported it at the time but it didn't get through, never paid, now there has been a lawsuit, which I couldn't attend and then the verdict is always to my disadvantage. Now a month ago (July 2017) I was ordered to garnish my wages by a bailiff in this case, Z is not at home now and the bailiff is waving the ruling and has waited until my bankruptcy has ended, but I have never taken anything from Z in my life. Lawsuit or not, I do not owe them anything, how do I make that clear to them and the bailiff!

Probably a default judgment was given, because you did not appear during the proceedings. You can file an objection against this, but then within 4 weeks or after the moment that you became aware of the judgment. I do not know whether this has already passed. But the fact is that haste is required in such cases. The judgment will be enforced by the bailiff, which you cannot do much about without filing an objection.
