Legal Question about the Notice Period for Storage

Questioner

I had my horse at a stable that I left and after being stabled somewhere else for 1.5 years, I returned to this stable. The first time I signed a contract with a notice period of 1 month. Now I have gone to another stable. Is that other contract still valid? Or should they have given me a new contract?

Lawyer

I don't quite understand you. You have a contract and then you left. After 1.5 years you go back. That means a new contract has to be made. Then you say that you 'Now I went to another stable? Is this the first stable? And what do you mean by that other contract? Do you mean the very first contract?

Questioner

I understand that it is a bit unclear. I'll try to explain it a little better, I came to stable x in 2012. Here I signed a contract with a 1-month notice period. In 2014 I went to stable y. After 1.5 years I returned To stable x. I did not receive a new contract at stable x. Now I recently moved to stable z . Now my question is, since I didn't have to sign a new contract, is it true that they can still use the 'old' contract? Can they require me to give a one-month notice period? Thank you in advance.

Lawyer

No, a new contract should have been made. That is not there I understand that you returned to stable x in 2016. Under what (verbal) agreements was this made? fixed or indefinite period? It is, however, common practice to use a notice period of one month.
