Rental Agreement and Deposit Information

My daughter wants to live with her boyfriend in a rental house in the private sector. In the rental contract, they are both listed as tenants. Because they do not meet the income requirement, a surety or guarantee is requested. In the draft of the surety agreement, a maximum amount of the surety of 5 years' rent is now stated. That seems quite high to me, a maximum of 12x the monthly rent would seem reasonable to me. What is common in this situation?

Although in the case of rental in the private sector the landlord is free to determine the amount of the deposit and cannot say in advance what is customary, he must be reasonable. The requested deposit is very unreasonable. I therefore advise you to file a complaint with the landlord and make a reasonable proposal yourself.
