Inspection of state examination: rights of parents
Questioner
My child has taken a state exam. An inspection is being organised and I would like to look along with my child to see where the mistakes/weak spots are. Now the organisation says that only the candidate will be given access. My child is a minor and it would be more useful if I also look along in connection with the objective choice of further study. Can the organisation refuse access to the parent or legal representative?Lawyer
What do you mean by 'state exam'? Which 'organization' is it? How old is your child?Questioner
State exams are the national exams that are organized by the government (DUO). My child is 17, in his case he tried the HAVO exam. The date for inspection has now passed, we were denied inspection at the last minute on the date proposed by the organization itself (5 August). A complaint was left via their website/complaints procedure. Unfortunately no response yet. Due to his stay abroad it is difficult to place him in regular secondary education because the school system he came from is different. Inspection could have helped to estimate where things went wrong (level, language comprehension, not learned enough, ...). That is what schools want to know before they can place a student, in order to properly tailor to what he/she needs, especially at that age or that school year.Neem de volgende stap
