Legal Advice on Contract Signing

Questioner

I have been working in a dental practice for over 11 years. My last contract dates from 1 January 2009. This is not such an extensive contract. Now my employer has decided that every employee will get the same contract, regardless of how long you have worked there. They want to do this by means of an addendum, which we are obliged to sign. It states that the KNMT conditions will be used, which is a book of 50 pages. It was explained verbally that this will replace the contract. I have been approached about this four times now. (somewhat pressured) My question is whether it is mandatory to sign such an 'addendum' and whether your employer is allowed to put you under such pressure?

You are not obliged to sign an addendum. A contract must meet certain characteristics. General terms and conditions must be a supplement and not a replacement. You can have the terms and conditions checked for their consequences. If you wish, you can contact us without any obligation.

In addition. KNMT conditions cannot replace a contract. I advise not to sign before you have more clarity about the intentions of the employer.
