Conflict with car dealer. Bought a car in January 2016. The last 5,000 still needs to be paid, but I can't. I can prove that I can't pay it. The purchase receipt states: economic ownership is only transferred when the full invoice amount has been paid to the dealer. Can we demand that the dealer buys the car back for what it is worth now? What right do we have if we can't pay that 5k?

Not being able to pay the remainder of the purchase price is your risk. The car dealer does not have to attach any consequences to this. He can hold you to the agreement and anything he may want to arrange with you should be considered as goodwill.
