Liability for internship accidents | Legal Advice Centre

Questioner

My son did an internship at a metal company. He did not receive work gloves from this company and while moving a metal plate, the permanent employee suddenly jerked the plate, causing my son to get a bad cut on his finger. He went to the hospital with his internship supervisor where he was treated, but was unable to attend his internship for a month afterwards. Now he has to pay his own deductible for healthcare costs and his school or internship location are not willing to cover these costs.

Lawyer

The employer (and his client) is responsible and certainly if a person is doing an internship, extra attention must be paid to the dangers and precautions that must be taken. (This is because normal employees are sufficiently informed and instructed).

Lawyer

The internship company is liable for this damage. Apparently the Safety measures were insufficient and there was inadequate supervision. It is best to hold the internship company liable by means of a liability claim. If you want, I can draw this up for you.
