Liability for Damage: What to Do?

Questioner

Good afternoon, Yesterday the window cleaner came and he fell through 2 parts of our corner sofa lounge set. It is a set made of wicker. It is a small effort to move it aside because the set hardly weighs anything. I spoke to the young man about it and he said he would discuss it with the boss and call me back last night, but this did not happen. The new price of the set was 999.00 euros, but the set is about 4 years old and unfortunately I cannot find the receipt. What do you recommend doing? Thanks in advance for your response!

Lawyer

The window cleaner must be held liable for the damage. His insurer will have to pay you the current value of the set. If you have photos or other evidence of the set (e.g. a statement from the store where the set was purchased) then the damage can be settled more quickly.
