Locksmith Liability: What to Do?

Questioner

Yesterday I locked myself out. I called a locksmith who managed to open the door by 'flipping' it. But now I find out that the lock no longer closes (the door does close, but you can easily push it open from the outside). Can I hold the locksmith liable for the damage to the lock? He did not warn me that this method could cause damage.

Lawyer

If the door shows defects after the repair while this was not the case before, then you can hold him liable to repair the damage. There must be a connection between the repair of the lock and the damage. If you can prove this, then you have a good chance.
