WGA benefit and work in Belgium: your rights

Questioner

I am partially disabled and currently unemployed and can probably get a job in Belgium. If I go to work there, will I still be entitled to a WGA benefit?

Lawyer

With a wage-related WGA benefit, if you do not work, you will receive 70% of your last earned wage. This is the wage you earned in the year before you became ill. If you go to work, you will receive 70% of the difference between your last earned and your new wage in addition to the wage you earn. It is therefore possible that your WGA benefit will be reduced if you receive too much wage from your work in Belgium.

Questioner

Okay, it was not clear to me whether I am entitled to WGA benefits if I do not get a Dutch but a Belgian employer. Up until now I had a Dutch employer and my salary was indeed partially supplemented. I have recently become unemployed but can probably now find work in Belgium but I was afraid that I would no longer be entitled to WGA benefits. I understand from your story that it makes no difference whether I work in the Netherlands or Belgium?
