Liability after Divorce: What to Do?

Questioner

I have a revolving credit with my ex-husband at a bank. After the divorce, he withdrew money up to the maximum credit and it was deposited into an account that I am no longer a part of. Now I am receiving letters about arrears and my ex is no longer paying anything. They now want to recover the entire debt from me. Is that possible?

You remain jointly and severally liable for the entire debt, meaning that if your ex does not want to pay the debt or has made additional withdrawals, the bank will then knock on your door for the entire debt, unless there are mutual agreements in the divorce settlement. But in principle, you remain jointly and severally liable for the debt.
