Make sure you don't pay too much for your subscription

Questioner

At this moment I wonder to what extent providers are responsible for informing the customer that he or she is paying too much. Since 2007 I have been connected to a subscription with an internet provider. I made the first request to the provider 2.5 weeks ago to send me the signed contract because apparently I have been paying 25 euros too much per month for years. Of course I am mainly trying to get the money I paid too much back. They also do not adhere to the agreements to collect a compensation of 20 euros on the last invoice, which I also indicated, now it will be settled in January. Now I wonder because according to them after 5 years the contract has been thrown away what the options are to get my overpaid money back. I find it very strange that I have not had a cheaper offer in 9 years.

Claims from 2007 expire per term after 5 years, but the same applies to claims later. So a term from 2012 expires in 2017. Furthermore, the administrative burden of proof is reversed, but you can also easily demonstrate that double payment has been made, I assume? Stick to your guns and possibly ask for some help from a lawyer.

Thank you for your response. It is mainly because the same subscription has become cheaper over the years, which is why I paid too much. That is fairly easy to demonstrate via the website that the difference is there, I assume? Or am I looking at it wrong? I would like to hear from you

Yes, the problem is that people are nicer to potential customers and come up with better offers than for their own customer who is already inside. For that reason, many people often switch.
