Legal Assistance for Overbilling

Questioner

At the end of last year we placed an order for a stove. This installer could also provide the underfloor heating. We combined this and gave our approval. After implementation, we now receive an invoice that is 56% higher than agreed. The specification indicates additional hours for relocating pipes, laying pipes through cavity walls and additional costs for a concrete floor in part of the house. The installer in question gave us this price based on photos and floor plan. What should I do with this? It's almost €900 more. I have already tried calling but I can't reach the man and want to send him an email. I would like to hear what you advise.

If this increase has not been communicated in the meantime, then there is no legal basis for this either. You agreed on something at the time and that must be accepted. Of course, also interim adjustments. If you wish, you may contact me directly.

If a target price applies, then 10% may be deviated from. The 56% increase is only allowed if the contractor informs you of this in time, but the increase seems exorbitant to me and you do not have to pay the additional price. In your email, list the facts and the agreements according to the possible quotation and indicate that you do not agree with the invoice and that you will not pay the additional price. If you cannot reach an agreement together, you can contact me directly for further assistance.
