Contractor Liability: What are your rights?

Contractor wants to walk through my house from the inside and take pictures before the public works on the sewer and pipes in the street. I refuse this because of privacy. Now it is said that I cannot claim compensation for damages incurred as a result of the work by the contractor. Do I then have no right to claim damages if it comes to that?

You may certainly refuse, but the photos are intended to record the situation before the work is carried out. If you do not cooperate with this report, you may have problems with evidence later if damage occurs.

You say exactly the same thing as the person who wanted to take the photos and you do not give a satisfactory answer to my question. Question: How do I hold the contractor liable in advance for any damage incurred as a result of public works that have yet to be carried out (replacing pipes, paving, sewerage, gas, etc.)?
