Work meetings and obligations: your legal questions answered

Questioner

Work meeting 180 km from workplace, further information: We have normal work meetings at our workplace where I always go. The work meeting I mean now is only called a work meeting to force us to go. It is not a work meeting because no work-related topics are discussed, we never get any feedback from it, no minutes are made, it is only meant to have us meet every 3 months because we are all at different locations. Because there was a lot of protest against this because we have to travel far for it, they have now called it a work meeting. So that is why I want to know if they can force me to go.

As a rule, you should be careful that you cannot be accused of refusing to work. Whether this is a reasonable order from the employer that you must comply with depends on all kinds of circumstances, such as what is stated about such matters in your agreement, whether this has always been the case, etc. You can therefore better contact one of the lawyers on this site directly, e.g. the undersigned.
