Making liability with your garage

Questioner

Recently I brought my car to my regular garage because of a strange noise. It turned out that 4 of the 5 wheel bolts of my right front wheel were broken off. According to my garage this can only be caused by overtightening the bolts. I have my tires changed by another (specialized in this) company. However, 2.5 months have passed since the last tire change and before the noise started. Therefore the company says that it is not possible that it is due to incorrect actions on their part. They believe that they did it correctly and do not know how this could have happened. Nevertheless, I am considering holding them liable, but I wonder if I have any chance in this?

I don't think the chances of success are great, because you have a problem with proof. You will have to prove that the bolts were tightened too much by the company. That seems quite difficult to me. Moreover, the problem arose 2.5 months after the tire change and it may well be that there is another cause underlying the problem.
