Liability of laptop supplier | Free advice

Questioner

I own a 3 year old laptop. This one fell and part of the housing is broken, so the laptop can no longer be opened. The housing part is probably no longer available from the supplier. In my opinion it is a disgrace that a 3 year old laptop can no longer be made. Can I hold the supplier liable for this and what is the time frame within which parts should and can be delivered?

No. A supplier can decide to stop producing a certain product. Even if a product is on the shelves for a shorter period of time due to a promotion, for example. And especially with electronics, things move quickly and products are changed on a daily basis. This is different if there is also a warranty on it and or a product is still in full production. In that case, parts must be available at all times. However, your product is older and probably no longer under warranty, and then the supplier is no longer responsible for replacing products and or parts and if your product breaks outside of that, you will have to buy a new one. In addition, the laptop fell, which is also not the supplier's fault. So I'm afraid you have little to stand on, and you will have to buy a new one and or contact your insurance company to see if the laptop is insured. If this is the case, the current value of the laptop will also be paid out, I suspect, which is also the case with most insurance companies.
