What to do when changing contracts - Legal Aid Clinic

Questioner

I have a question. I have been told that my employer wants to reduce my contract hours from 34 to 24 hours per week. Is that possible? The lost hours will be included in a social plan. The reason for reducing the number of contract hours is a different way of working. Kind regards

If a fixed number of hours has been agreed, the employer cannot and may not simply change an agreement unilaterally. If the employer does this, you must inform the employer in writing that this is not allowed and that you do not agree with it. If the employer wants to continue, the employer must go to court for this, and have a good reason for this and must take your personal circumstances into account.
