Liability for Building Inspection
Questioner
On December 11, 2015, I had a building inspection carried out on a house that I bought on February 15, 2016. Immediately after the purchase, I noticed a large damp spot in the wall between the bathroom and bedroom and it also leaks down into the hallway from the cellars. This damp spot is not in the building report. The result is that I now have to renovate the bathroom. Who can I claim these costs from? The building inspector or the seller?Lawyer
If the damp spot was already visible at the time of the building inspection, you can hold the building inspector liable for the damage you are now suffering because he did not notice the damp spot. You would also do well to report the defect to the sellers as soon as possible. You do not have to attach any (legal) consequences (claim for repair, liability, etc.) to this report. In any case, you have then fulfilled your obligation to complain in a timely manner. I am happy to draw up these letters for you and to advise you further in this matter. Please feel free to contact me without obligation and free of charge to discuss what I can do for you in this regard and what the costs are.Neem de volgende stap
