Tax Authorities Liability - Legal Aid Office

Questioner

The Council of State recently ruled that the tax authorities violated their duty of confidentiality by providing income data to the landlord. It was also ruled that this was a violation of the Personal Data Protection Act. As a result, I have suffered both material and immaterial damage. How can I hold the tax authorities liable for this and file a claim for damages? And what is reasonable compensation for immaterial damage in this case?

Lawyer

If you want to hold the tax authorities liable, you must hold the tax authorities liable in writing. If they do nothing, you can bring them to court and let the judge decide. However, I personally believe that this will be a long-term process and probably also makes little sense. As for the compensation for damages, it is difficult to give such a judgment.
