Liability for damage caused by contractor
Questioner
We asked a certified company to replace a washing machine tap at my mother-in-law's house and to install a shower bracket in the shower. While drilling the holes for the shower bracket, the installer drilled into a water pipe. We actually hired a company to prevent this. I assume the company pays for the costs themselves? and we only pay for what we asked to be done?Lawyer
You have a contract of assignment with the contractor. Usually the person who causes the damage or his employer is liable. Often a liability insurance is taken out for this. Only after delivery and acceptance is the risk yours. So make it clear that you do not accept the damage. If the contractor does not repair the damage properly, you can hold him or her liable.Neem de volgende stap
