Questions about holiday pay? Get advice!

Questioner

I have been working for my current employer since 2007. I started with a 0-hour contract and that was converted to a 32-hour contract in 2008. Now in January 2016 it turned out that I received too many vacation hours each year. They now want me to give them back in 8 years. My question is whether this is allowed. It is a mistake that was not made by me, but am I within my rights if I contest this? I hope to hear from you soon.

In any case, it seems that part of the claim has expired. A claim normally expires after five years. If the employer has not sent a letter within this period in which he has claimed the overpaid holiday pay from you, that part has expired in any case. For the rest, it is mainly about whether you could have known that you may have received too much holiday pay. To what extent was this clear to you and to what extent is it reasonable for the employer to ask you to return this part? Perhaps my colleagues on this platform can add to this.
