Liability and Compensation | Legal Aid

Questioner

What I would like to know. Suppose you have caused damage and this can be repaired and you take responsibility for it. Can you then demand that the repair has actually been carried out (by) paying the bill on the spot yourself? Or does the claimant have the right to decide for himself whether he has it repaired or not.

Lawyer

You are liable for damage. This means that you must compensate for this damage. The claimant then has the right to have the damage repaired or not. This is not necessary. Unfortunately, you cannot demand that you pay the bill on the spot.
