Contractor quote cancellation? Free legal advice!
Questioner
Hello, A few weeks ago we signed a quote from a contractor for the installation of our kitchen. This contractor started the work and did some of the tasks to be performed (electricity, preparing water). In our opinion, mistakes were made with the electricity, for example, he did not install sockets and a connection for a lamp is at the wrong height. Also, after his work, the lighting in the shed no longer works. Is it possible for us to cancel the quote in the meantime? The quote clearly specifies which services cost what amount, so we could pay him for the services performed (demolition, electricity, water), but cancel the rest of the quote. The signed quote does not specify anything about this. Thank you in advance.Lawyer
If it concerns the same contractor who will also install the kitchen, in that case I would proceed with caution and now put him in default with the incorrect work. Give him the opportunity to repair it. If he does not, then you may terminate the trust and then unilaterally withdraw the order without being liable for compensation. In the letter you ask the contractor to suspend the remaining work and not to make any investments yet in connection with the obligation to limit damage.Neem de volgende stap
