I work part-time at an insurance office, my duties are diverse. But mainly supporting the internal service, making invoices, and other administrative tasks. I do have telephone contact with the customer, but as soon as advice is needed, a colleague handles the customer's question. So it is limited to the first contact with the customer. Now my question is, am I required to obtain a WFT basic diploma in my position?

I don't know your situation well enough. It makes a difference whether something about education is included in the employment contract or the collective labor agreement. That is really leading. In addition, good employer and good employee practices apply to an employment relationship. This means that the employee must comply with a reasonable request from the employer. Whether the request is reasonable depends on the content of the work and the education. The content of your contract and what has been collectively agreed upon makes the most difference.

The WFT has nothing to do with the collective labor agreement or good employers in your question. Whether you are required by law to have the WFT basis depends on the extent to which you are active in an advisory capacity within the financial sector. If you do not provide any advice, I do not think this is necessary. If you are going to perform advisory work, this is an obligation under the law. The law states that every financial advisor must have the WFT basis papers and if one works in a certain field such as insurance or banking, one must also follow additional WFT courses for that. I am not really active in that field myself, and this is what I know about it. As regards the collective labour agreement and good employer practices that Mr de Jong speaks about, this only comes into play when a conflict arises over who provides the costs and hours of the training, etc.
