Questioner

During the major service of my car, the air filter was treated with oil because, according to the company, this is 'normal' for this type of air filter. After the major service the car never drove smoothly, lacked power and the roller bench confirmed this. The company never helped to investigate the problem and that is why I had the problem investigated myself and therefore I incurred costs. So I found out that the oil was clogging the air filter, causing the car to run much less smoothly. The air filter manufacturer's website also states not to use oil. I therefore hold the company liable. I have also explained this in a letter and sent it, but I have not received a response. What can I do now?

Lawyer

Dear questioner, If you do not receive a response, this may have several causes: the letter was not received, there is unwillingness to compensate your damage, they have forwarded your case to their insurer and they have not yet responded. It is important to find out what is going on. Often a simple phone call asking if they have received your letter can help. Is there a case of reluctance? Then you can send a registered letter or possibly hire a lawyer to put pressure. That can sometimes help. Success.

Questioner

Dear Krista, Thanks for the quick response. I forgot to mention that I already had a phone call and the company denied liability. What is the next step?
