Health Insurance Effective Date and Advice
Questioner
My new health insurer is forcing me to take out health insurance from an incorrect start date, which means that I have been double-insured for a number of months, including supplementary insurance. According to article 5 paragraph 4 of the Health Insurance Act, I believe this is not allowed. Is that correct? And if so, do you have any advice on what I can do about this? I have been living permanently in the Netherlands for years as a knowledge worker, and I have only had the purpose of my residence permit changed to family (with free labor). The health insurer says: The validity of the residence permit is the effective date of your insurance We insured you as of [] because the validity of your residence permit starts on this date. We are obliged to register you as of []. We are not allowed to change this to a date earlier or later. We do not change the start date of your policy Your previous insurer [] is a private party. The period from [] to [] is therefore not considered double insured.Lawyer
The response from the health insurer makes me suspect that you have switched from a private insurance (often a kind of international package) to the Dutch basic insurance. In that case, it is correct that there is no question of double insurance within the meaning of the Zvw.Neem de volgende stap
