Requesting a change to contact arrangements - Legal Aid Centre

Questioner

Hello. A few years ago I went to court with my ex-partner (father of my oldest daughter) for alimony and he wanted to have an agreement in writing that our daughter can go to him every weekend. I agreed to this but I notice that it is not good for my daughter. My ex tries to make my life miserable in various ways and I am never allowed to take my daughter to a birthday party or something else in the weekend, while I sometimes give him extra time on 'my' days. Now I would like to know if I can change the arrangement to every other weekend and if so, what do I have to do for that? I want the very best for my girl and I notice that going there every weekend (while he is often not there himself) is not good for her. She also often has no need to go, she says. Can you please help me?

Lawyer

You could request a change in the visitation arrangement. A new petition would have to be filed for that. Considering what you have stated, I certainly see possibilities. If you wish, you can contact me.

That is certainly a nice answer to hear. Now I only have 1 problem. My ex is going to thwart everything and I am in debt restructuring so I am afraid I cannot afford a lawyer.

You are expected to qualify for subsidized legal aid. It is possible that the costs that you have to pay to the lawyer yourself can also be reimbursed from the special assistance.
