Question about unemployment benefits as a cross-border worker?
Questioner
I have worked in the Netherlands for 10 years and live in Germany. I will become unemployed as of December 1st. However, I also have a 2-hour per week employment contract with another company in the Netherlands, where I will continue to work. Can I qualify for a supplementary unemployment benefit with this? In order to avoid the German Arbeitsamt?Lawyer
If you travel between the Netherlands and Germany at least once a week, you are a cross-border worker. A cross-border worker must apply for benefits in his or her country of residence. You have 2 jobs as an employee in the Netherlands. You are insured separately for both jobs. This also means that you become fully unemployed from job 1 and 0% from job 2. You are therefore not partially unemployed. In that case, you would fall under the Dutch legislation.Lawyer
This is not correct. If your employers are also Dutch, you are partially unemployed and can apply for unemployment benefits. More information can be found here: http://www.grensinfo.nl/gip/nl/dewenl/uitkeringpensioen/werkloos/index.jsp?situatie=dewenlLawyer
When you are partially unemployed you will receive unemployment benefits. You are still partially unemployed. You are fully unemployed from your current job. You are 'saved' by the 2-hour jobNeem de volgende stap
