Liability for banking abuse | Legal aid centre
Questioner
My bank (in Adam) requested a new debit card for me in connection with the conversion of my student account to a private account. I was told that I would receive the card, the PIN code and the activation code separately in 3 letters at home. My bank now informed me that 500 euros were withdrawn from my account with the new card (in Leeuwaarden) and that it was blocked on suspicion of misuse. This happened before I was in possession of the card. I immediately contacted the bank and reported the damage. Who is liable for this damage? Is there a chance of getting the money back (possibly from the bank/post/insurance)? Thanks for your advice!Lawyer
If you did not have the bank card in your possession and were therefore unable to withdraw money, the bank is in principle liable for any damage incurred and also for the correct sending of the bank card by post. I advise you to hold the bank liable for this in writing. If you wish, you can contact me directly and free of charge for consultation.Neem de volgende stap
