Paying back student debt? Discover your rights!

Questioner

I have a student loan with my (ex) employer and now I want to make a settlement about this, but my (ex) employer does not agree with this and wants to reclaim the amount in one go. What are my rights in this situation. FYI: my study agreement does not mention a payment arrangement, only that the student loan must be repaid.

Lawyer

If it has been agreed that the student debt must be repaid, then this must be complied with. Depending on the amount, it may be contrary to reasonableness and fairness to demand the amount from you in one go. I advise you to pay off a monthly amount as a sign of goodwill. If he tries to take legal action, your repayments will make it more difficult for your ex-employer. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
