Liability of oral surgeon - Free advice

Dear Sir/Madam, During the surgical removal of my wisdom tooth last year, the oral surgeon damaged a healthy tooth. This recently came to light after I visited the dentist with complaints of pain. An operation is required to repair the damage around the root and the tooth may have to be extracted and replaced. Due to the mistake and fault of the oral surgeon, I now have to undergo an expensive operation. How do I hold him liable for the costs? Thank you in advance for your response.
