Health Insurance Act: Legal Advice and Information
Questioner
It is stated in the health insurers' papers and on the websites that you cannot switch to another health insurer if the premium has not been paid in full. Now I have paid the premium for the whole of 2014, but not the healthcare costs, which is something completely different. I am referred to article 8A of the Health Insurance Act. Below is a description of this. Article 8a of the Health Insurance Act Chapter 2. The obligation to take out health insurance Section 2.3. Start and end of health insurance Article 8a 1. After the health insurer has requested the policyholder to pay one or more due instalments of the premium due, the policyholder may not cancel the health insurance during the period in which the premium, interest and collection costs due have not been paid, unless the health insurer has suspended or terminated the health insurance or its coverage. 2. The first paragraph is an exception if the health insurer informs the policyholder within two weeks that it confirms the cancellation. I don't think there is anything in here about healthcare costs.
