Good Morning ,, (previous question sent without explanation) Can they refuse a day off that is requested 2 weeks in advance?? When my husband wanted an explanation for this (because he can normally come 3 days in advance for a day off and it will be arranged then) he was only told that it was busy on that job and when my husband replied that there were more colleagues who could take over his tasks, there was no further response!! (he is a 'normal' employee without a special function) and at the moment he is not even working in his own industry because there is currently no work in it,, so he is also doing work in which he does not have that much experience,, it does not matter,, but then it is strange that you cannot get time off,, the work is not finished even if my husband does go to work that day ..... He could see with the work supervisor today whether he could get time off somewhere that week after that,, and then that also has to correspond with my work,, the babysitter and the person we had that appointment with!! which now has to be cancelled... There were also less nice things said, such as: if you want to have Friday off, you can hand in your keys and your bus... He has been working there for 14 years now and has always worked hard... Since the children were born, things have become a bit more difficult in terms of working a lot of overtime, but this should not be a reason to refuse a day off... We simply do not have a lot of babysitting and we cannot leave the children home alone yet (1.5 years and 5.5 years) My question: Can all this be done this way?

Under Article 7:638 paragraph 6 of the Dutch Civil Code, the employer must provide compelling reasons for refusing leave. I advise you to consult with your employer again to see whether it is not possible to take leave after all and to point out the obligation in the above-mentioned provision. Art. 7:638 paragraph 6 The employer is obliged to grant the employee the remaining entitlement to vacation in days or hours, unless there are important reasons against this.
