Wajong and Day Trading: What does profit mean for your benefits?

Questioner

Hello I receive a disability benefit and recently started day trading. Now this is going quite well and I am making quite a nice profit I was wondering how exactly this works with the Wajong benefit, could I have any problems with this? and can my Wajong benefit be stopped?

Lawyer

If you have an income in addition to your Wajong benefit, you must report this to the UWV. If you do not do this, you may indeed have 'trouble' with it. For more information, see: http://www.uwv.nl/Particulieren/ ik_kreeg_op_jonge_leeftijd_een_ziekte_of_handicap/ nieuwe_wajong/tijdens_mijn_wajong/mijn_inkomen_tijdens_wajong.aspx

Questioner

The point is that I have been told that this is a box 3 income 'savings and investments' and that I do not have to declare that, is that correct?

Lawyer

According to the UWV page below, assets are indeed not relevant in the case of the 'old' Wajong: http://www.uwv.nl/Particulieren/ik_kreeg_op_jonge_leeftijd_een_ziekte_of_handicap/oude_wajong/tijdens_mijn_Wajong-uitkering/welke_verdien_maken_niet_uit_voor_de_hoogte_van_mijn_Wajong-uitkering.aspx.
