Questioner

Good morning, I would like to know whether I always have the opportunity/possibility to start as a self-employed person from a WWB benefit. is it the case that the municipality is the determining factor/decision maker or do I always have the option, according to the rules, to experience/try this for 26 weeks while retaining my benefits based on the government rule? Kind regards

The municipality decides whether you can start working as a self-employed person on the basis of a WWB benefit.

Questioner

Mr Martens, one more question, where can I find qualifications/rules regarding 'generally accepted work' To explain, some time ago I had the opportunity through a vacancy cafe organized by the municipality to choose between two options: a) working in asbestos removal/remediation or an office job on a commission basis. Because I consider working in asbestos removal to be a major health risk, after reading some publications about it, I decided to opt for an office job. I hope my question is clear (the fact is that according to the municipality I would make the wrong choice and thus be confronted with a 40% discount)

Lawyer

In general, the nature and scope of the generally accepted work do not necessarily have to match your education, experience and wishes. The municipality may therefore expect you to accept work with more or fewer hours than you previously worked. The municipality may also expect you to accept a temporary employment contract or a temporary job or to accept work with a lower salary than you worked for in the past. The required level of education is also not important. It doesn't matter if you consider asbestos removal to be too much of a health risk. If the company meets the requirements, this is generally accepted work. It is not clear to me what you mean by commission-based office job.
