In principle there is no difference. The terms are used interchangeably but since 1 March 2009, care and contact arrangements have been included in the law. Parents with parental authority must make such arrangements if they separate. Who can put a visitation arrangement or care and contact arrangement on paper: in short, parents, legal parents and social parents who are not legal parents provided that they have a close personal bond with the child. If no agreement can be reached, the judge will make a decision.
