Becoming a legal mentor: steps and advice
Questioner
My neighbor has cancer. Her daughter is unable to make decisions. Now she has asked me to do this when it comes down to it. How should this be arranged so that I can do this too? Should this be recorded with a lawyer or a notary? Or is there another way?Lawyer
Dear Questioner, If it concerns care for the neighbor, it may be considered to become a mentor for the sick neighbor or her daughter. This can be requested from the subdistrict court. If you wish, I can guide you further in this.Questioner
If we want to do this and I (and my partner) become mentors, does this also apply to any possible termination of life for the neighbor?Lawyer
Dear Questioner, As a mentor, you may only advise but may not make independent decisions for termination of life. This is up to the person themselves or direct family members.Neem de volgende stap
