Liability after fall in cinema | Legal aid centre

Questioner

Dear Sir or Madam, My question is the following: I fell down the stairs last night after the movie ended in the cinema. In doing so, my eye hit a steel tube that belongs to the armrest. This morning my vision was still not good enough and I went to the doctor's office anyway. Costs must be paid for this. Can I hold the cinema liable for this or have my medical costs reimbursed? In addition, there was little good assistance within the cinema. What can I do with this?

Lawyer

This question contains too little information about how you fell. That determines whether the cinema can be held liable. So you will have to give more information about the fall itself.

Questioner

I don't remember exactly how it happened, but apparently I lost my balance on the stairs when I fell down about 10 to 12 steps, after which my arm got caught on a bar of the armrest and I hit my head (the part is my left eye socket) against another steel bar of the armrest. Is this the information you need?

Lawyer

If the fall was caused by you losing your balance, the cinema cannot be held liable. Additional facts and circumstances may mean that the stairs are not safe, for example the lack of a banister and such. This is apparently not the case, I see no possibilities for you to recover your damages with these facts and circumstances.
